Educator by Calling

Musician by Heart❤️

Dr. Brian Anthony Stokes has built a career on opening doors. With an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Development from the University of Miami, he has served in senior leadership roles at community colleges across the United States for over 30 years. His work centers executive-level administrative services, on student access and success, and on developing the next generation of leaders. Higher education is his calling, and he’s lived that commitment in conference rooms, classrooms, and campuses nationwide.

But when the meetings end, Brian returns to his first language: rhythm.

Music is his heartbeat. Soca. Reggae. Salsa. Merengue. Parang. The sounds of the Caribbean and Latin America are where his discipline as an educator meets his soul as an artist. He grew up on the island of Aruba - immersed in those traditions, surrounded by the sweet sounds of Caribbean rhythms.

After more than three decades away from recording, Brian reconnected with his musical roots in 2017 following the completion of his doctorate. The timing wasn’t accidental. Finishing the Ed.D. closed one chapter and gave him space to return to another. Since then, he has written, produced, and released a steady catalog of Parang and Soca tracks, earning a dedicated following among Caribbean music lovers in the U.S. and abroad.

His sound honors tradition while speaking to today’s audiences — high-energy Soca for Carnival season, contemplative Parang for Christmas, and Latin-Caribbean fusions that reflect his cross-cultural life.

Today, Brian balances both worlds. By day, he advances equity and leadership in higher education. By year-round, he’s in the studio, on stage, or collaborating with producers across the Caribbean diaspora. The two paths aren’t in conflict — they fuel each other! The same passion for building up people drives his work in education and his music.
